ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of petition seeking bail of accused Akhtar in the Islamabad standoff case until tomorrow (Wednesday), Geo News reported. Accused Akhtar is involved in providing weapon to the main accused Sikandar in the Islamabad fiasco case. Judge Atiq-ur-Rehman of Islamabad ATC was occupied with the hearing of the case today but he was also due to hear Musharraf’s case at his sub-jail farmhouse. Therefore, the hearing was adjourned without further progress as Judge Atiq-ur-Rehman left for the farmhouse. On August 15, main accused in the case Malik Sikandar along with his wife harassed Islamabad city for more than five hours. Sikander, armed with at least two assault rifles, an AK-47 and a latest sub machine gun (SMG), started shooting at Jinnah Avenue. The armed standoff, finally came to a heroic end after an unarmed Pakistan Peoples Party leader, Zamarud Khan risking his life attacked the armed man leading to his arrest. Akhtar is accused of providing arms to the primary accused Sikandar.
Pakistan Tuesday successfully carried out a test-fire of short-range ballistic missile Hatf IX (Nasr), Geo News reported.
Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement released here said that the test-fire was conducted from a state of the art multi tube launcher.
