ISLAMABAD: An accused named Akhtar involved in providing weapon to the main accused Sikandar in the Islamabad standoff case has been handed over to police on 14-day judicial remand Friday, Geo News reported. Earlier, he had been sent on a two-day physical remand on Wednesday. Judge Atiq-ur-Rehman of Islamabad anti-terrorism court (ATC) heard the case where the police presented Akhtar before the court after his two-day physical remand expired today. He is accused of providing arms to the primary accused Sikandar. Police told the court that investigation from the accused has been concluded and no more remand is required. On this, the court ordered police to jail the accused and remanded him for 14 days. On August 15, Malik Sikandar along with his wife harassed Islamabad city for more than five hours. Sikander, armed with at least two assault rifles, an AK-47 and a latest sub machine gun (SMG), started shooting at Jinnah Avenue. The armed standoff, finally came to a heroic end after an unarmed Pakistan Peoples Party leader, Zamarud Khan risking his life attacked the armed man leading to his arrest.
