Justice (r) Wajihuddin PTI candidate for presidential election

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf announced that Justice (retd) Wajiuddin Ahmed will be its candidate for the presidential election. The decision was taken after consultations with the senior leadership, said a spokesman.

Earlier, the Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament Khurshid Shah had contacted PTI's Deputy Leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi who had suggested there could be a joint Opposition Candidate not affiliated to any political party but of national standing.

However later the PPP announced their Party candidate. PMLN leadership had also contacted PTI with a view to seeking support for their candidate.

However, the PTI consensus was to put up its own candidate. Hence PTI's leadership

unanimously requested Justice (retd) Wajiuddin Ahmed to be the PTI presidential

candidate.
