Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has called upon the law minister to make sure the upcoming general elections do not hit any snags, Geo News reported Thursday.
“Do whatever there is to be done to hold the vote on time”, the prime minister said talking to Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Farooq H. Naek here at PM House.The polls must be held on time and according to the constitution and the law of the land", said PM.During a meeting the law minister gave a comprehensive briefing on the electoral arrangements.
Naek detailed the PM about the role of Election Commission and measures taken by the government to ensure free, fair and transparent elections.
They also discussed the current situation in the backdrop of parleys with leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Q and reviewed the overall arrangements of the election process in the country.
The Prime Minister appreciated the efforts made by the Ministry of Law, particularly Farooq H. Naek, in the preparation of Fair Trial Bill and its passage by both Houses of Parliament.
