ISLAMABAD: The Federal Cabinet has approved the document seeking a high treason trial against former president, General (retd) Pervez Musharraf.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired the cabinet meeting on Monday which discussed the Musharraf treason case and the recent killing of foreign tourists at the Nanga Parbat base camp.

According to sources, Prime Minister Sharif will keep the charge of the Law and Justice Ministry.

Prime Minister Sharif in reference to the killing of foreign tourists said that the Nanga Parbat incident has posed the worst threat to national security and has ordered to ensure the arrest of those involved in the killings.

The Prime Minister and other members of the Cabinet expressed serious concerns and regretted the Nanga Parbat tragedy.

During a briefing, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar told the Cabinet that the terrorists conducted reconnaissance of the area and took help of the guides to reach the base camp where the tourists had camped. Nisar said the police are interrogating the guide and a tourist who were rescued from the spot.
