ICCI has initiated an interest-free loan scheme for the welfare of poor and needy people by allocating amount of Rs 50,00,000 so that ailing segment of society could setup their small businesses.

Zafar Bakhtawari, President ICCI made these remarks while sharing views with Dr Ajmad Saqib, Founder and CEO of Akhuwwat Foundation which is working for alleviating poverty by empowering socially and economically marginalized families through interest-free microfinance and by harnessing entrepreneurial potential, capacity building and social guidance. ICCI President said that it is our social responsibility to help the poor segment of the society, businessmen and industrialists have resources to help poor families and enabling them to become self-reliant.

He was of the view that instead of relying on the Government for every thing we should provide full support to the organisations like Akhuwwat Foundation which are institutionalising the spirit of brotherhood, compassion, and volunteerism. Bakhtawari appreciated the role of Akhuwwat Foundation for promoting Qard-e-Hasana as a viable model and a broad-based solution for poverty alleviation.He also lauded the role of Dr Ajmad Saqib, Founder and CEO of Akhuwwat Foundation for making this a sustainable, growth-oriented and replicable organisation.

ICCI President said members of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry enthusiastically participated in the welfare of society and scheme of interest free loan was another initiative of ICCI for enabling poor people to become self reliant. He urged all the traders and industrialists to come forward and help the ailing humanity.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ajmad Saqib, highlighted vision and mission of the foundation and said that it was started its operations with the amount of Rs.80,000 but now it has converted into a well established organization having funds of more than Rs.3 billion and its 105 branches were opened in different cities and towns across Pakistan.
