Internet service disrupts after a fault in submarine cable

Internet service across the country has been disrupted upto 60percent due to submarine cable fault, said sources in Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL).

According to reports, the undersea SEA-ME-WE cable developed a fault near Sikandriya, Egypt due to which the service has been down since last 5-hours.The repairing of service has not yet began, however the networks were restored in parts of the country by alternative routes.

The optical fiber cable system is the primary internet backbone between Europe, Middle East, Sub-continent and Europe. Some other countries have also been effected due to cable disruption.
