Korean companies to make new investment

A business delegation from Korea representing various top companies including Lotte group have taken keen interest in making investments in various sectors of economy in Pakistan.


In this connection, the Korean delegation consisting of representatives of various companies are paying a visit to Pakistan.They represent various sectors which include energy (hydel & solar), engineering and construction, petrochemicals, LNG, railways, roads, health, information communication and their interest in various projects in Pakistan.


The members of the delegation currently visiting Pakistan included Samsung C&T, Lotte Group, WISDOM, STX, Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL), Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), Concentrix Solar Korea Ltd, Daewoo E&C are a few among them.The delegation first arrived in Board of Investment (BOI) and had a thorough meeting with the secretary BOI, Rashid Ahmed.During the visit, they raised few issues regarding the security of the existing Korean investors in Pakistan, which they were assured of full protection by the secretary.


They were welcomed to start business in different sectors of Pakistan and were also apprised of the Special Economic Zones.Later they also visited line ministries like Ministry for Water & Power, Ministry of Railways, Ministry of National Food Security and Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Resources.Simultaneously, a meeting of Senator Saleem H. Mandviwalla, Finance Minister/Chairman BOI, was also held with Kim Chang Gyou, the senior managing director of Lotte Group,and discussed the expansion of the PTA project.


The Lottegroup also showed interest to invest in Special Economic Zones to avail the incentives.Tomorrow Lotte group may also meet the President to discuss the possibility to improve the operations of the Utility Stores Corporation Pakistan.A technical/financial supports may be provided to the USC.
