KSE adds 69 points

Positive trend continued at local equity market on Thursday and the KSE 100-index touched new height after addition of 69 points.“PTCL’s result generated investors’ interest in all telecom stocks.


PTCL closed at its upper limit while Telecard, WorldCall and Wateen Telecom also performed well as investors are expecting better results after PTCL realized international call revenue. Index was also supported by heavy weight OGDC and MCB in which institutional support was witnessed,” a dealer observed. At local equity market, the benchmark KSE 100-share index gained 69.37 points or 0.39 per cent to end the day at 17765.82 points as compared to 17696.45 points of the previous day.


KSE allshare-index added 44.36 points or 0.35 per cent to finish the day at 12547.06 points, KSE 30-share index went up by 69.63 points or 0.48 percent to end the day at 14519.18 points while KMI 30-share index gained 143.85 points or 0.47 per cent to close the day at 30780.27 points. Market traded 312.528 million shares after opening at 261.955 million shares and the value of traded shares minimised to Rs 6.408 from Rs 7.123. Capitalization of local market settled at Rs 4.445 trillion compared to Rs 4.429 trillion of a day earlier.


Trading took place in 361 companies where 172 closed in positive and 161 in negative while the values of 28 stocks remained intact. UniLever Pak was the top gainer of the day, increased by Rs 105 to Rs 10380, followed by National Foods, up by Rs 15.43 to Rs 324.05. Sapphire Textile and Siemens PakistanXD were the biggest losers of the day, down by Rs 12.50 to Rs 237.50 and Rs 11.90 to Rs 605.10.


Telecard Limited was the volume leader of the day with 40.496 million shares as it closed at Rs 5.60 after opening at Rs 4.65. PTCLA was on the second position with 32.580 million shares, up by Rs 1 to Rs 21.10. It was followed by Sui North Gas with 22.366 million shares, shed Re 0.16 to Rs 26.30, Wateen Telecom Limited with 18.102 million shares, up by Re 0.44 to Rs 3.98 and WorldCall Telecom with 16.443 million shares, up by Re 0.24 to Rs 3.75.
