Nine CDA officials ‘pay the price’ for honesty
Source: The Nation | 29-03-2013

Contrary to the rules and regulations formulated by the Election Commission of Pakistan, higher authorities of Capital Development Authority (CDA) have transferred nine officers ahead of the upcoming general elections for not issuing NOCs to former legislators for their outstanding bills against their stay at the Federal Lodges Islamabad.

The officers, it has been learnt reliably, were transferred on political pressure exerted by former legislators.According to the sources, as many as 9 officers of CDA including an Assistant Director, two Deputy Directors and others have been working in CDA for years and refused to give No Objection Certificate (NOC) to various parliamentarians (who were living in the Federal Lodges) and did not pay their dues.

“These CDA officers had refused to give NOC to some parliamentarians as dues of hundred of thousands of rupees were payable to the Authority. This prompted the parliamentarians to use their influence to get these officers transfer,” a source said. These officers include Assistant Director Fariddudin, Deputy Director Muhammad Kashif, Deputy Director Taimoor Ahmed, Audit Officer Habib Ahmed, Admin Officer Imran Khokhar, and three others.

It is important to mention here that ECP has imposed ban on transfers of officials until before the general elections. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) imposed the ban on transfers and postings across the country two days back. While a notification in this regard was also issued.

As per the notification of ECP, transfers and postings have been banned across the country and now there will be no transfer and posting of even a single government official in individual capacity and that action would be taken against violations.

The ECP notification further imposed ban on President, Governors, caretaker Premier, Chairman, Deputy Chairman Senate along with Chief Ministers and Advisors of the PM from visiting electoral constituencies.
