The Pakistan Cricket board (PCB) chairman M Zaka Ashraf Ch will unveil the Pakistan Super Twenty20 tournament logo here at a local five star hotel on Thursday (today) at 2:45 pm, it has been learnt.

All arrangements to hold this Pakistan’s mega event have nearly been completed for the proposed Pakistan Super Twenty20 league in a befitting manner. The tournament will commence from March 24 in Lahore, a day after the conclusion of Pakistan’s tour to South Africa.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has already formed a secretariat to run the Super Twenty20 tournament. Former banker, Sarwar Salman Butt has been appointed as the Managing Director of the event. Pakistan Cricket Board has also hired the former International Cricket Council (ICC) Chief Executive Officer Haroon Lorgat services as advisor for the tournament.

Earlier the former ICC CEO Haroon Lorgat has helped Sri Lanka in launching their Sri Lankan Premier League last year. An Indian company has also been acting as consultant for the board on the league.

The source said it had been decided to have five franchises for the league. It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan youngsters will be provided with the chance to show their skills and prove their mettle in the tournament.

“The Pakistan Cricket Board is ready to go ahead with the super league in March and is utilising the services of Haroon Lorgat, the Indian company and the Executive Director Badar Rafai for hiring the services of overseas players for participation in the mega event,” the source said.

“The PCB is hopeful that particularly the involvement of Lorgat as tournament consultant and advisor will have long-term benefits for them and they should be able to attract some notable players for the event.”The super league will start after the Pakistan’s tour to South Africa ends in March while the Indian Premier League begins in the first week of April.

The successful hosting of this tournament will also help a lot to revive international cricket in Pakistan as no foreign team toured Pakistan citing security concerns after the terrorists attack on Sri Lankan team in Lahore in 2009.
