Govt. to complete its constitutional tenure: Kaira
Minister
for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira on Monday reiterated
that the general elections will be held on time and the government will
complete its term. Talking
to media persons at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) after
launch of cleanness drive in the hospital he said, the elements who had
been contesting elections using others’ support are now propagating for
delay of elections after losing that support. The
minister said during his address at ‘Eid Milan Party’ in Malikwal,
President Asif Ali Zardari had clearly said that the government would
complete its constitutional term and general elections would be held on
time.
Kaira said the law and order
situation in the country was much better as compared to that of 2008, so
how the elections can be delayed on this pretext.
To
a question, he said, opposition leader in the National Assembly
Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan always pursued his own policy regardless of
party’s stance.
He
recalled that PML-N President Mian Nawaz Sharif had agreed to accept
investigation into Asghar Khan cases through FIA while Chaudhry Nisar
remained struck to his stance of opposing it.
Kaira said holding of D-8 Summit in Islamabad has helped enrich image of the country.
He
said heads of the Islamic countries have attended the conference and
various agreements have also signed that would prove beneficial for the
participant countries.
Regarding
Chaudhry Nisar’s objections on holding D-8 conference during Muharram,
Kaira said, month of Muharram is sacred for all Muslims but it does not
require to suspend routine works.
About
presence of Bilwal Bhutto Zardari in D-8 conference, he said Bilwal had
just attended the conference while President Asif Ali Zardari and
Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar represented Pakistan in the moot.
To
a question he said NICH hospital has been established in the capital
while dispensary in Bhara Kahu has been converted to hospital to
facilitate the people.
To
a question about the security measures taken during Ashura Muharram,
Qamar Zaman Kaira said ban on pillion riding and suspension of mobile
phone service helped maintain overall peace and security in the country.
He
said Rehman Malik’s decision to ban pillion riding and suspension of
cellular service has been taken after consultation with the Prime
Minister.
“No minister
can take any decision on its choiceâ€, he said, adding no doubt people
face difficulties due to this decision it has been taken in the benefit
of the people.
He said
the statement of Minister for Religions Affair Syed Khursheed Shah
saying that Rehman Malik was taking decision on its own was published
out of context.
