ISLAMABAD: After being approved as a presidential candidate by the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) leadership, Mamnoon Hussain reached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to submit his nomination papers Wednesday, Geo News reported. The PML-N’s central leaders in a meeting with the Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in the chair finally approved Mamnoon Hussain as a candidate for the presidential election today morning. Sources said that the meeting deliberating over the party candidate for the upcoming presidential election finally ratified Mamnoon Hussain’s candidature for president as proposed by the prime minister himself. Following the approval, Mamnoon Hussain accompanied by the central leaders of the party including Senator Mushahid Hussain also submitted his nomination papers. Mamnoon Hussain had earlier served as the 27th Governor of Sindh for a period of six months. The PPP has nominated Senator Raza Rabbani as their candidate and he will be supported by the ANP and BNP. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has nominated Justice (retd) Wajihuddin Ahmed as their candidate for the election. Members of the Parliament will elect a new president on August 6.
