NADRA NA-256 Report: Tribunal to announce decision by Oct 25
Source: Geo News | 08-10-2013

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has given three days to file objections over a NADRA report highlighting election irregularities in NA-256 constituency of Karachi.

After completing thumbprint verification, NADRA in its report stated that over 77,000 votes cast during the May 11 election in NA-256 could not be verified.

The ECP has also summoned the Returning Officer of the constituency on October 12. According to the ECP spokesman, the election tribunal is bound to make a decision regarding election fraud within 120 days of receiving a complaint. The complaint of election fraud in NA-256 was received by the election tribunal on June 20.

The spokesman added that the 120 day period was expiring on October 25 and the tribunal will have to announce its decision by this date. Sources add that the tribunal has the authority to declare the election illegal if voter fraud is proven along with also ordering re-polling on polling stations.
