Sri Lanka 57-1 after bowling out Pakistan for 165
Source: Geo News | 08-01-2014

Sri Lanka bowlers, taking advantage of the ideal seaming wicket, bowled out Pakistan for 165 on the first day of the second Test here at Dubai International Cricket Stadium Wednesday.

In reply, Sri Lanka were 57 for one when play ended early due to bad light. They need further 108 runs to end the Pakistan lead.

Kaushal Silva and Kumar Sangakkara were batting with 12 each after Dimuth Karunaratne was out leg before to pacer Junaid Khan for 32.

Earlier, Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews won the toss and put Pakistan into bat to test them on a seaming pitch.

Only opening batsman Khurram Manzoor (73) stood out before edging to Suranga Lakmal (2-45). It was his sixth Test half-century.

Among other batsmen, two players - Bilawal Bhatti (24 not out) and Mohammad Hafeez (21) could move into the twenties.

Nuwan Pradeep, who had three wickets in his previous four Tests, led the Sri Lankan attack with 3-62.

In a sensational collapse after lunch, Pakistan lost five wickets for 71 runs to limp to 128-6 at tea.

Then left-arm spinner Rangana Herath (3-26) polished off the tail and gave Sri Lanka the early advantage.

Pradeep had the wickets of opener Ahmed Shehzad (3), Mohammad Hafeez (21) and Sarfraz Ahmed (7), and Shaminda Eranga (2-25) broke the backbone by removing first Test century-makers Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq in the space of seven deliveries.

The first Test match played at Abu Dhabi last week ended in a draw.
