Deputy Convener of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Farooq Sattar said on Monday that it is not possible for the party chief Altaf Hussain to come to Pakistan due to some unavoidable conditions, Geo News reported.
While talking to the media along with other members outside the Supreme Court building before the hearing, Sattar told that the party members have come to the court to represent their leader as MQM has always respected the courts.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan is set to conduct hearing into a contempt notice issued to Altaf Hussain today. The apex court had directed Altaf Hussain through a notice to appear on January 7 to justify his remarks against the court during a public gathering.
On the other hand, the MQM's legal team headed by Barrister Nasim Farogh and comprising Qazi Khalid Advocate and others moved a plea in the Supreme Court, seeking permission for MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar or any lawyer to represent Altaf Hussain in the court. The petition also sought exemption from personal appearance of the MQM chief from today’s hearing.
