After giving a clean chit to Metro Bus Project, Transparency International Pakistan has also declared Ujala Solar Project in accordance with the laid down rules and regulations and declared that no corruption whatsoever, has been found in the procurement process of two lakh solar panels under this project.
In its letter to the Punjab Energy Department, the Transparency International Pakistan (TIP) has further pointed out that Punjab Procurement Rules 2009 have been completely followed in implementation of Ujala Solar Project. The letter further states that, under a Memorandum of Understanding signed with Punjab government on February 28th, contracts and procurement matters of Ujala Solar Project were carefully inspected, after which, Ujala Solar Project has been found to be completely transparent.
The letter further states that TIP would continue to endeavour for establishment of rule of law, elimination of corruption and promotion of good governance in the country.Meanwhile, the spokesman of Punjab government has said that after Metro Bus Project, the declaration of TIP that Ujala Solar Project is completely in accordance with rules and regulations, is a living proof of transparency of all development projects of Punjab government, while, after the authentication by TIP, all false claims of those who were criticising Punjab government in this regard have now proven to be completely wrong.
A day earlier, Transparency International released a report, stating that prima facie the Metro Bus Project was completed at a cost of Rs 29.078 billion. Moreover, two contracts of annual cost of Rs 1.2018 billion for metro bus supply and operation and security were also awarded in a transparent manner and on the basis of a competitive bidding as per Punjab Procurement Rules 2009.
