Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on Thursday presided a meeting with the project directors of various development projects at the CM House here.The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (P&D), Israr Malik, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance), Arif Ahmed Khan, Principal Secretary to CM, Muhammad Siddique Memon, Project Directors of Special Development Packages and others.
Reviewing the progress on various projects and schemes, Qaim Ali Shah directed all project directors to pay full attention towards completion of public oriented schemes on priority basis within next two months up to March 15 and said funds available with them be property and timely utilised so that the fruits of the same reach the common man.He said that special packages were given for those areas which had been ignored in the past, and the present government has given priority to Lyari for this purpose. The chief minister directed ACS (P&D) and ACS (Finance) to analyse and assess the important schemes within one week.
He also directed that P&D should submit an immediate detailed monitoring report about status of all such special packages and other regular ADP schemes within few days.The PD Lyari Development Package informed the meeting that Lyari Development Package was initiated on the directives of President of Pakistan in the year 2008-09.
He added that the Sindh government has allocated Rs800 million for the year 2012-13 for the schemes being carried out under Lyari Development Package. Three existing play grounds at Usmanabad, Maulvi Usman Park and Sports Complex in front of Lyari General Hospital are being completed at the cost of Rs 81.103 million while so far 74% work has been completed. It was informed that 30 roads and streets are being rehabilitated and improved with a length of 34.5km at the cost of Rs513.730 million. It was also added that Maulana Muhammad Ali Johar Park (Kakri Ground) is being renovated and improved at a cost of Rs 71.162 million and 41 primary/secondary schools of Lyari are being repaired/renovated and rehabilitated at a cost of Rs319.949 million.
Besides, funds worth Rs340.056 million have been allocated as block allocation.The Project Director Larkana informed that out of allocated amount of Rs 953.593 million for ongoing schemes for the year 2012-13, an amount of Rs 661.490 million was released and so far Rs 340.429 million have been spent. He further informed that an amount of Rs546.401 million allocated as block allocation, comprises allocation of Rs278 million for roads Rs150 million for Bakhtawar Bhutto Park, Rs70 million for Bilawal Bhutto Park and Rs109 million for Provincial Road Larkana City.
He also informed that there are 12 schemes pertaining to construction of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Public Park near the mausoleum at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto, construction of taxi stand at Gerello (Taluka Bakrani), construction of 14-waiting halls in various villages of Taluka Ratodero, Construction of 15 compound walls for graveyards in villages of District Larkana, construction of 11 Eidgahs in various villages, rehabilitation of existing mausoleums of saints, and existing mosques of Taluka Ratodero,
construction of 2 bus terminals and taxi stands of Ratodero and Naudero cities, providing and installation of solar street lights in Larkana, Ratodero and Naudero cities, renovation of Tank Chowk Larkana, construction of Bakhtawar Peoples Park at Moen-jo-Daro, reconstruction of mosque and compound wall for graveyard in village Khuda Bux Phulpoto (Taluka Ratodero) and construction of Begum Nusrat Bhutto Memorial Library and Multipurpose Hall at Larkana. He also gave details of schemes pertaining to road sector, education sector, water supply and drainage sector. The Project Directors of Sukkur, Hyderabad and others also presented detailed reports of progress on various projects under development packages.
