Pakistan Cricket Commentators Club (PCCC) involving veteran commentators of the country has come into existence for the first time in the history of Pakistan Television and Radio Pakistan in Lahore.
All the members attended the first meeting in person and through telephone and decided on certain matters and the roles of them. Munir Hussain is head of the club while Iftikhar Ahmad and Chishti Mujahid are special advisors, M Idrees president, Tariq Raheem senior vice president, Mirza Iqbal Baig, Brig (retd) Pervez Asghar Mian and Amjad Aziz Malik vice presidents, Raja Asad Ali Khan secretary, Tariq Saeed finance secretary. Hassan Jaleel, Tariq Bucha, Dr Tariq Raz, Ihtasham-ul-Haq, AR Zaidi, Ijaz Ahmad and Munawwar Hussain are members.
Talking to the members in the conference, Munir Hussain expressed happiness over existence of the club and congratulated Iftikhar Ahmad for this initiative. “The club will be a good omen for both cricket and its commentators.” Chishti Mujahid also lauded the idea of forming the commentators’ club for first time in 60 years and appreciated all the members for getting united at one platform.
The members of the club congratulated management of Radio Pakistan for rejuvenating cricket commentary and announced that soon they would hold a meeting with information minister Arif Nizami, PBC and PTV chairman Agha Nadeem, DG Radio Murtaza Solangi, MD PTV Yousuf Baig Mirza and would suggest them ideas to make commentary as rejoicing and popular as it was in the past and promote young talent.
