The Supreme Court on Friday adjourned hearing of petition of judges’ appointment in Islamabad High Court (IHC) and review petition filed by the government in this regard for indefinite period.

During the hearing, Justice Kaliji Arif remarked that the petitions had remained non hearable after issuing notice for judges’ appointment in IHC.Nadeem Ahmed Advocate submitted a petition against the president, prime minister and law minister who conducted contempt of court for not issuing notification of appointment of judges in IHC after Supreme Court’s order.

The five-member bench of the apex court headed by Kaliji Arif was hearing of the petitions filed for judges’ appointment in IHC.Abdul Rauf advocate told the court that petitioner Nadeem Ahmed’s lawyer Akram Sheikh requested for pending the petition in this regard. On this Justice Kaliji Arif said that there is no need for pending the petition after the government issued notice for judges’ appointment in IHC, adding that now review petition filed by the government in this regard had remained non-hearable.

Attorney General of Pakistan Irfan Qadar pleaded the court that review petition of the government be pending until detailed verdict by the court was made. The court said that implementation on court order was made and the court pending petitions had adjourned till indefinite time.
