JI leader Prof. Ghafoor passes away

Jamat e Islami's (JI) senior leader Prof. Ghafoor Ahmed Wednesday passed away at the age of 85 in Karachi after months of ailment.

The JI leader was born on 26 June 1927 in Barely, British India and earned Masters Degree in Commerce from Lucknow University in 1948.Ghafoor Ahmed later completed a course in Industrial Accounts and won the fellowship, of Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan.

He became the member of Jamat e Islami in 1950 and held key positions.Ahmed served as General Secretary of two political alliances Pakistan National Alliance (PNA) and Islami Jamhuri Ittehad (IJI).
