Malala Yousufzai, the 14-year-old schoolgirl who was shot in the head in Swat valley, has received the 2012 Tipperary International Peace Award.
According to statement issued by Pakistani Embassy in Dublin, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Indian Congress leader Sonia Gandhi were among five nominees for the award.
Previous recipients of the award include former South African president Nelson Mandela, former US president Bill Clinton, former prime minister of Pakistan the late Benazir Bhutto, and former President of Ireland Prof Mary McAleese and her husband Senator Martin McAleese.
