Making sheer mockery and utter violation of necessary rules and procedures, five blue-eyed officials at Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) have been promoted to lucrative slots of executive grade with attractive package by a generous hand of top man of the company.
Available documents with this newspaper disclosed that favourite officials of officer grade in technical and production departments of the company have been promoted to executive grades on executive slots in admin and human resource sections. Officials Manger Production Naseer Ahmad Rana, Asad Ahmad Asad, Rashid Malik and Manger Corporate Social Responsibility Irfan Babar have been elevated to executive grades with a handsome twenty per cent raise in their respective salary package and other benefits.
Sources in the company aware of the matter told that MD OGDCL Masood Siddiqi and Executive Director Human Resource Masood Nabi who is considered very close to farmer Adviser to PM on petroleum & natural resources Dr Asim Hussain has played pivotal role in the promotion of these influential officials.
They said an influential ‘lobby’ has besieged the company with an obvious target to level playing field for the future appointments of friends on special slots, promotion of favorites to higher ranks, signing of procurement agreement at sweet will with favorite companies etc.
Sources also informed that top officials of the company in a bid to benefit favourite officials had granted them a forty per cent increase in their salary during last month while salaries of around eight thousands employees had not witnessed any raise from last two years.
Surprisingly, Rashid Malik President Officers Association who was working as a Manger Production is also among the beneficiaries. Rashid Malik allegedly remained involve in oil theft at Tando Adam, Bobi field and was faced investigations in this regards.
It is interesting to note here that Aslam Khan Niazi is also among the beneficiaries list and this second promotion within three months span of time has badly affected those officials of admin and human resource departments of the OGDCL who were waiting for promotion for a long time. Reportedly, affecttee officials have protested against MD OGDCL over giving these promotions which to them is sheer violation of rules and promotion policy of the company.
