Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry President Muhammad Haroon Agar has stated that KCCI attaches high importance to Pakistan-Turkey bilateral trade due to geo-strategic locations of two brother Muslim Countries. Pakistan is a gateway to Central Asian Republics, South Asia, Middle East and China while Turkey is gateway to European Union.
Speaking on the maiden visit of Betul Akin, Commercial Attaché of the Republic of Turkey, he emphasised that successful implementation of Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) High Speed Train Project connecting Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul will enable Pakistan to export goods to EU vice versa Turkey can exports its goods to South Asia and Middle East from Pakistan. Pakistan and Turkey are also exploring possibilities of signing Preferential Trade Agreement aimed to increase trade and investment. We hope that PTA would be signed in near future, he said.
He apprised that Zubair Motiwala, Chairman Sindh Board of Investment, with collaboration of Embassy of Pakistan in Turkey, was leading an investment delegation to Turkey comprising of businesspersons from various sectors of the economy.Betul Akin Commercial Attaché of the Republic of Turkey apprised that it was her maiden visit to KCCI to introduce and assure that she will pursue her predecessor Fisun Aktug who had completed her service tenure. She desired to work closely with KCCI on matters of mutual interest on Pak-Turk commercial affairs sought President’s support.
She stated that tremendous trade opportunities between two countries. The Commercial Section of Turkish Consulate General in Karachi will maintain liaison with KCCI on trade and commercial affairs, she told.
