The eight-member committee formed to strike consensus on the nomination of a caretaker prime minister will meet today (Wednesday) at 02:30 PM.
Earlier, the constitution of a bipartisan parliamentary committee to deliberate as well as agree on the name of an interim prime minister was notified.According to a notification issued here, Sardar Mehtab Abbasi, Khwaja Saad Rafique, Sardar Yaqoob, and Pervez Rashid are representing Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, whereas Farooq H Naek, Khurshid Shah, Chaudhry Shujaat, and Ghulam Ahmed Bilour the coalition government.
In order to break the stalemate over the issue, it was decided the matter of the appointment of a caretaker prime minister would be referred to a parliamentary committee, which would come up with a name within (72 hours) three days.The opposition had put forward the names of Senator Parvez Rasheed, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Mehtab Abbasi and Yaqoob Nasir for the parliamentary committee all of whom are members of the PML-N.
According to Chaudhry Nisar all opposition parties have been duly consulted on it.The government had already finalized the names of its side the committee to be formed by the speaker of the recently dissolved National Assembly.In case, the parliamentary committee also fails in deciding the name of caretaker prime minister the matter would be referred to the Election Commission of Pakistan, which would decide the name within two days.
