The media still owe a lot of answers the public regarding an unexplainable blast near PNS Karsaz (a naval facility in Karachi) in which a Pakistan Navy officer and his wife were seriously injured.
According to initial reports, a car with a navy officer’s family on board burst into flames after an explosion in the parking lot of a private college at 8:00 AM on Karsaz Road near National Stadium. The Navy said, a faulty compressed natural gas (CNG) cylinder fitted in the car led to the blast, however conflicting accounts cast doubts over this theory.Sources said the naval intelligence strictly barred the media from covering the puzzling incident.
“We were not even allowed to film the blast site or the damaged vehicle”, sources quoted a news channel cameraman as saying.Even the Shar-e-Faisal police, who along with some bomb defusers cannonballed to the scene, maybe owing to its sensitive location, were not welcome there."Pakistan Navy personnel who took control of the site immediately after the blast commanded the cops to back off. Willy-nilly, the police pulled back after they were told they had no jurisdiction over there.", said an eyewitness.
No one has lodged a report with the police since the strange incident that needs to be puzzled out before long as the way things are being covered up only points towards "another security failure."Sources say on the face of it, it appears to be an act of terrorism, but the Navy is bent on terming it a CNG cylinder blast.Geo News learnt that the injured, residents of Gulshan-e-Jamal, were shifted to PNS Rahat hospital. According to sources the naval officer is said to be critical, however his wife is out of danger.
