Secret funds of several ministries abolished

ISLAMABAD: The newly elected government has abolished secret funds of 16 ministries with effective from June 11, 2013, Geo News reported.

According to Geo News senior anchorperson and analyst Hamid Mir, secret funds of 16 including interior, information, IT and other ministries have been eliminated from June 11, 2013.

This will help government save Rs16 billion.

Secret funds of Pakistani embassies in US and UK will also come to an end after implementation on the decision.

Meanwhile, Intelligence Agencies could use secret funds, however, it would be audited by Auditor General of Pakistan.
