Senators walk out of house against Quetta killings

Legislators in the upper house on Monday strongly reacted to the last day’s Quetta killings and walked out of the Senate, claiming that the provincial law enforcers have totally failed to ensure safety of people and their properties.


Senators belonging to the JUI-F, ANP, PML-N, BNP-A and MQM staged the walkout in protest. On a point of order, PML-N Senator Raja Zafarul Haq condemned the killings in Quetta.“The provincial government of Baluchistan has totally failed to stop targeted killings of the Hazara community,” he said. He requested all democratic political parties to show solidarity with the relatives of those killed in the Quetta killings.


Leader of the opposition Senator Ishaq Dar said massive killings of such scale are condemnable and absolutely unacceptable.He urged chairman Senate to seek a report from the interior and defence ministries over the killings during the ongoing session and recommend stern action against those responsible.


Chairman Islamic Ideological Council Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani said a high level judicial commission should be constituted for probing the killings spree in Balochistan.Senator Kalsoom Parveen of Balochistan National Party Awami strongly condemned the killings in Quetta and said an all parties conference (APC) should be convened immediately for devising a joint strategy.Speaking on a point of order Senator Tahir Mashahhdi and Senator Farah Aqil condemned the killings of innocent people in Quetta.
