Pakistan, India will start their One-day cricket rivalry in Chennai on Sunday (today) with the hopes that the visitors will do their best to win the series against the arch-rival. Pakistan has to work hard to clinch the One-day series being commenced from today at Indian soi.
India have an edge over Pakistan and their morale is on a high after levelling the Twenty20 series 1-1. MS Dhoni will be a relieved man and handle the pressure in much better way to beat neighbouring countries in ODI series with crowd backing. Pakistan now starts preparations for the One-day series and go all out to win it on Indian home soil. India will prepare batting tracks because batting is their strength, to pile up 300 plus runs in every match to win the one-day series against Pakistan whose batting is a bit weaker.
Now it will depend on Misbah and Younus Khan to deliver for Pakistan in the 3-match series to become victor as they need to play as a unit to combat Indian challenge in the series. Selectors must give chance to Junaid Khan, Harris Sohail and other players who have proceeded to India with the team to boost their morale and international exposure against India.
Pakistan have retained lanky fast bowler M Irfan and Shoaib Malik for the One-day series. Irfan bowled superbly in the two Twenty20 games and troubled every Indian player. He gave 20 runs in the second Twenty20 high-scoring and bowled brilliantly.
Afridi failed to make any impression in the Twenty20 matches as he took 1 wickets in the two matches and proved costly in the second T20 high-scoring match and has to return to Pakistan as he fails to lure tour selection for his space in One-day internationals.
It is imperative for the tour selection committee and management to chalk-out strategy for the One-day series if they want to beat India in their own backyard. The management also keep players under severe check to monitor their activities and movements and stop any indecent happening in the dressing room and to save them from any allegations regarding fixing. The India is hub of betting in the world and management must take steps to keep players away from this menace to avoid any indecent incident.
Though Saeed Ajmal, premier spinner of Pakistan, has ability to bowl well against the right handers but he failed in improving his skills against the lefthanders and looked struggled while bowling to left hand batman despite earlier thrashing in the Twenty20 World Cup semi-finals against Australia when Michael Hussey took around 25 runs in the crucial match and helped Australia to chase 210 runs to enter the semi-finals.
