Unproven claim to Article-62, 63 leads to disqualification: SC

The Supreme Court of Pakistan said the candidate who claims to fulfill the requirements enshrined in Articles-62 and 63 of the Constitution but fails to substantiate his claim, will be considered as disqualified to partake in the general elections,

Issuing verdict in the fake degree case, the apex court said Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is authorized to disqualify a candidate over misstatement.The SC’s ten-page ruling states any decision regarding the certificates of the candidates will be made only after the verification by Higher Education Commission (HEC).Meantime, 189 former parliamentarians have been given another chance by April 5 for the verification of their degrees.
