The FBR Federal Revenue Alliance Union on Tuesday held a ceremony to pay tribute to FBR Chairman Ali Arshad Hakeem for accepting the longstanding demand of the union to upgrade FBR’s almost eight cadres.
The ceremony was held at Regional Tax Office, Lahore and attended by hundreds of employees, who were in joyous mood to celebrate their up-gradation, which was pending for a long time.
FBR Union President Mian Abdul Qayyum addressing the ceremony said that FBR has now finally notified the up-gradation of around 8 cadres of Income Tax and Customs officials to 16 grade from 14th and credit, in this regard, goes to President, Prime Minister, Federal Minister Khurshid Shah and FBR Chairman Ali Arshad Hakeem.
Federal Revenue Alliance Union central President said that it was pleasant news for the Customs officials as well as the income inspectors.He appreciated FBR Chairman Ali Arshad Hakeem for accepting the longstanding demand of the union to also upgrade Customs department Appraisers, Examiners and Preventive officers along with income tax inspectors, asking the government to also fulfil demand of promotion of class four employees of the FBR.
The union greeted the whole staff of FBR for their upgradation to 16th scale from 14th, asking the government to issue notification earlier in this regard. He also hailed the efforts of the ruling PPP government, which provided all out support to the employees of FBR.
Mian Qayyum said that the workers have attached their hopes with the present government that it would also fulfil other longstanding demands. He said that the authorities should utilise best abilities to facilitate the employees who are collecting revenues for the government despite all odds.
He said that the FBR has big responsibility on its shoulders, as in the budget 2012-13 the revenue target has been enhanced. He said that like previous years the employees union would continue to support the FBR revenue collection drive.
