Zaka, Lorgat discuss int’l cricket return to Pakistan

The former CEO of International Cricket Council, Haroon Lorgat visited Pakistan Cricket Board headquarters on the invitation of the chairman Zaka Ashraf to finalise agreement for the launching of Pakistan Twenty20 league to be held in last week of March 2013, it has been learnt.
 


The discussions between Pakistan Cricket Board chief Zaka Ashraf and former CEO Haroon Lorgat were underway and as soon as the two parties settle for deal the agreement will be signed either today or Thursday (today).It has also been learnt that Haroon Lorgat is ready to provide his support in launching of Pakistan Twenty20 league and to end Pakistan isolation from the international cricket in the country. He also has good relations with the other cricket boards and his help will surely help Pakistan for returning international in country.



The Pakistan Cricket Board chief Zaka Ashraf desired to hire his service to launch Pakistan premier league as he has helped Sri Lanka for their Premier League which the islanders hosted successfully in August-September last.It has been learnt that Haroon Lorgat ready to help Pakistan for launching their Twenty20 league as a consultant-cum-advisor. The name of Pakistan Twenty20 league would be finalised later. Pakistan Cricket Board wants to use Haroon Lorgat expertise in not only organising Pakistan Twenty20 league but also convincing international teams to resume playing in Pakistan, the source added.



It has also learnt that after the finalisation of agreement, Haroon Lorgat will spend a few days of each month here at the board headquarters in Gaddafi Stadium. “Lorgat in his capacity as former ICC CEO is well respected in the cricket world and PCB believes his input can help them organise Pakistan Twenty20 League,” the source said.Lorgat had already visited Lahore for a day on the invitation of the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Zaka Ashraf and discussed issues relating to holding of Pakistan Twenty20 at length and agreed to help Pakistan.



Pakistan Cricket Board authorities have also in talks with some sports management companies, including two from India, to provide expertise for the league which is tentatively planned for late March in 2013.Earlier, the board in an advertisement inviting interested companies/individuals having previous experience of organising Twenty20 and other leagues internationally in cricket and other sports and have also directly been speaking to some companies including two from India, the source said.
