A high-level meeting of coalition partners of the PPP-led government discussed various issues relating formation of caretaker setup and forthcoming general elections here on Tuesday.
According to sources, the meeting headed by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf agreed to setup caretaker government in accordance with the constitution and to hold next general elections on time.
The coalition partners also agreed to continue their cooperation and to extend consultations regarding forthcoming general elections, the sources said.
Federal Law Minister Farooq H Naek said that the caretaker prime minister, under the constitution, will be appointed by the president in consultation with the prime minister and the leader of the opposition in the outgoing National Assembly.
