Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Dr Farooq Sattar, Saturday said the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) would independently run in the electoral race coming up, Geo News reported.Talking to newsmen here, Sattar stressed that MQM had always contested elections independently with a manifesto of its own, however the option of seat adjustment with the like-minded parties would remain open.
He said MQM’s alliance with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was based on five-points, which are: War on terrorism, strengthening the democracy, economic stability, making reconciliation policy successful, and stabilization of the country.We played our role as a responsible political party to achieve these targets," he maintained.On Karachi, the minister said the all the issues in general and lawlessness in particularly could be resolved with local government system.
“MQM has always supported LG system in the country”, said the MQM leader.Sattar was categorical in saying that outlawed outfits were deteriorating the law and order situation in Karachi with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) being the most active one.He said political, sectarian, and ethnic target-killings were a conspiracy to destabilize Pakistan and its economy.
