APHC demands opening border
Source: The Nation | 17-12-2012

The leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Sunday urged India and Pakistan to fully open the border in the disputed Kashmir region to let the peace process move forward.Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said the current limited opening of the Line of Control was not enough.Farooq is leading a seven-member delegation to Pakistan following an invitation from Islamabad.

He arrived in Muzaffarabad on Sunday for a two-day visit and will go on to Islamabad.“Limited movement of people and goods is not enough, it should be opened for Kashmiris so that they can move across freely to boost the peace process,” Farooq told reporters. He also said Kashmiris should be included in the peace process as it was not a dispute between just India and Pakistan. “No solution without the involvement of Kashmiris will be acceptable to us as we are an important party in the Kashmir dispute.”Mirwaiz declared to the thunderous applause that no barbed fencing can captivate the indomitable will of the freedom among Kashmiris. It is Kashmiris own struggle which no power on earth can blunt it, he asserted.

Talking here on Sunday to the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Muhammad Yaqub Khan, the Mirwaiz reminded that the hearts of all Kashmiris throb together and they are full of liberation zeal and resolve. Present on the occasion were members of the delegation Prof Ghani Bhatt, Maulana Abbas Ansari, Bilal Ghani Lone, Mussadiq Adil, AJK ministers Majid Khan, Mian Abdul Waheed, Saleem Butt,Farzana Yaqub, Assembly speaker Sardar Ghulam Sadiq Khan, Faisal Rathore, Special Assistant to PM Col ® M Zameer Khan, Media Advisor Murtza Durrani, Presidential Advisors Raja Sajid Khan and Inayatullah Arif.Mirwaiz, urging widening of people-to-people contacts and understanding scope, asked leaderships of both sides to play their role in this respect with determination so that the stages of freedom are brought nearer to the final goal.

. He decried the line of divide which has kept the Kashmiris apart from one another for long years. “This dividing line is not on ground but drawn across our chests”, he emotionally said.“No oppression, suppression and atrocities can check the forward way of Kashmiris along the bold path of freedom of Kashmir. We have started narrowing down the distances across the line that will bring about highly positive outcome. Across the whole world airs of change are blowing up and the day is not far off when Kashmiris too would succeed in their sacred mission and will achieve their right to self-determine their future. The APHC Chairman highly lauded the enthusiastic public welcome accorded to him and to his colleagues in Azad Kashmir that “predicts victory of Kashmiris, that will bridge up distances”.

The APHC Chairman said that the world political scenario was changing fast and people’s movements could not be suppressed through use of force. He said that the united voice of Kashmiris was essential for resolution of the Kashmir dispute. On the occasion, AJK President Sardar Yaqoob said that the sacrifices of the people of Occupied Kashmir for the Kashmir cause were unforgettable. He said the people of AJK were standing side by side with their brethren in the occupied territory in the ongoing liberation movement.Later, the delegation visited the camp of Kashmiri refugees at Ambore. Earlier, members of the AJK cabinet welcomed the APHC leaders on their arrival in Muzaffarabad.

The APHC delegation is visiting Pakistan and Azad Kashmir on the invitation of the government of Pakistan for consultation over myriad of issues connected with Kashmir, region and Pakistan-India ongoing talks. The delegation will interact with Pakistani leadership, politicians and others. The APHC delegation also met with AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, members of his cabinet and other political leaders.
