The speaker of the dissolved National Assembly, Dr Fahmida Mirza, on Tuesday issued a notification on the eight-member parliamentary committee on caretaker prime minister, upon the receipt of nominations from the government and opposition sides.
Sources privy to this development told TheNation that after receiving four names each from the government and the opposition, Dr Mirza had issued the notification. Opposition leader Ch Nisar Ali Khan has given four names, two each from Senate and National Assembly, from his party as expected keeping the JUI-F out of the process.
Now the opposition members in the committee include Sardar Mehtab Khan Abbassi, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Senator Pervez Rasheed and Sardar Yaqoob Nasir while the Pakistan People’s Party had already given the four names including Syed Khursheed Shah, Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, Senator Shujaat Hussain and Senator Farooq H Naek.
