CBI wants ministry to facilitate family’s visit to the country
Source: Tribune | 04-04-2013

India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has approached its external affairs ministry with an unusual request.

The Times of India reported on Wednesday that the CBI wants the ministry to facilitate a visit to India by the family of the founder of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence.According to The Times, the man in question, Khan Bahadur Qurban Ali Khan, was also the first chief of the Special Police Establishment (SPE) in India, predecessor of the CBI. Khan is to be honoured posthumously during the upcoming Golden Jubilee celebrations of CBI.

Khan, who was an officer of the Indian police during British rule, will be among a host of former directors of the country’s premier spy agency who will be honoured at the event on April 6, according to reports. The CBI was founded in 1963 and has renamed a block in one of its academies after Khan as a mark of respect.
