ISLAMABAD: Responding to opposition's diatribe over his alleged one-month ultimatum to bring Karachi law and order under control, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar said that he had not given any ultimatum to the Sindh government.

Speaking in the National Assembly over a call attention notice, Nisar said that law and order was a provincial subject and he had no authority to issue orders in this regard.

He said that the federal government was ready to undertake any responsibility to bring peace to Karachi within the stipulated time if consensus was evolved in this regard.

The minister said that a consultative meeting was convened over national security and all the federating units would also be taken into confidence. Nisar said that he was not satisfied with the interior ministry report over missing persons.

He also assured the Muttahida Qaumi Movement that the government would launch investigation into the killing and disappearances of the party activists.
