KARACHI: The residents of Lyari are protesting against the ongoing violence and targeted killings in the area, and have set two trailers on fire Thursday, Geo News reported. According to reports, agitated protesters set ablaze two trailers in Lyari where they are currently demonstrating against unrest and targeted killings. The protesters have blocked the roads, which has disrupted the traffic flow while they were also pelting stones on the cars and other vehicles. It’s also reported that protesters ransacked the vehicles in the presence of police personnel during the vandalism. During encounter with criminals in lanes 9 and 10 near Maripur Road, DSP Shakeel and one constable were also injured. Rangers have also been summoned in the area to control the situation. Insight It may be noted that intermittent firing continued for the fifth consecutive day in different areas of Lyari while hand grenades were also hurled. Residents of Lyari are encountering immense difficulties as they are restricted indoors due to incessant firing in many areas including Kalri, Hangurabad, Agra Taj Colony, Bihar Colony, Jumma Baloch Road and other adjoining colonies for the past four days. Hand grenade attacks were also reported in some places.
