PML-Q not to take part in Qadri’s long march
Source: The News | 02-01-2013

Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi said Tuesday that Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid would remain an ally of the PPP and both parties would make seat adjustments for general elections.

Addressing a press conference at his residence in Lahore, Pervez Elahi said: “PML-Q has not given any indication to Tehreek Minhajul Quran Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri to participate in his long march. However, the PML-Q will make efforts for the electoral reforms before the polls by taking all forces on-board including the TMQ.” Elahi said that the PML-Q was open for electoral alliance with other likeminded forces including the TMQ. He added that the PML-Q and PPP alliance was working smoothly.

Talking about the electoral reforms, he maintained that it was unfortunate that Election Commission had failed to control rigging in the by-polls, especially in Punjab. The deputy PM said that instead of doing something for the masses, the PML-N was busy in a ‘cat walk’, harping that it would take two third majority in coming elections. He said that Punjab’s ruling party had just launched flop projects and it should compare its performance than that of the PML-Q, instead of making tall claims about good governance. He went on to add that PML-Q had laid the foundation of Metro Train project but the provincial government turned it into ‘Jangla Bus Service’.

He said that the provincial government made hundreds of the citizens jobless and put many out of their businesses by taking up the ill-planned Metro Project. He predicted that the project would prove a coffin of the PML-N. He accused the provincial government of wasting public funds worth trillions of rupees in useless projects. The PML-Q leader said that his government constructed 37 thousand kilometres roads, 70 percent of Lahore Ring Road and 90 percent of Lahore Kasur Road. He said that he had initiated several projects of health, education, besides creating jobs. But the PML-N had moved all resources of Punjab on the 27 kilometre road leading to their palace, he said.
