LAHORE: Instead of joining the team in Zimbabwe, Umar Akmal has been called back home on fitness grounds from the W.Indies where he was taking part in the Carribean league for the Barbados Tridents. Earlier statements of reletives of the star batsmen confirmed that he suffered a seizure (epileptic related) on a flight to Jamaica where he was given emergency treatment and spent a night in hospital. On his arrival at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, the hard hitter denied any fitness problems and said that he was fit to play. PCB’s GM sports medicine Saleem Sohail talking to Geo News said that Umer Akmal has never suffered from any epilepsy related problems and has only been called back for general fitness problems. However he said that things will get clear only after they receive medical reports of Umer Akmal by Tuesday evening, after which a decision of his inclusion in the team will be taken by the management. Sarfraz Ahmed has been named as his replacement for the T-20 and ODI series in Zimbabwe, however he still awaits his visa.
