Interior Minister Chuadhry Nisar Ali Khan says he does not trust the Taliban anymore as they were asking for talks and killing innocent people at the same time.
The interior minister made these remarks during his briefing to the PML-N parliamentary meeting. Nisar said a decision regarding whether to hold talks or conduct an operation against the Taliban would be made by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the country’s top leadership.
Nisar informed the PML-N parliamentary meeting that he had sent former Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Hakimullah Mehsud a document containing the names of the seven member negotiation team and he (Mehsud) had cancelled two names.
The interior minister added that there was no coordination between the 26 intelligence agencies in the country. Providing details regarding the ongoing operation in Karachi, the interior minister said the crime rate in Sindh had decreased by 35-40 percent. According to Nisar, due to legal loopholes the courts had released terrorists as he called for specific legislation in such times.
There is a mechanism being formulated to identify terrorists’, Nisar informed the meeting. He added that the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) will play a pivotal role in tackling terrorism and a rapid response force would also be formed.
