Source: Geo News | 17-03-2014

Nepal defeated Hong Kong by an impressive margin of 80 runs in the second match on the first day in the fifth ICC World Twenty20 here at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Sunday.

Both teams were playing for the first time in the World T20 Cup.

Chasing 150 set by Nepal, Hong Kong could not bat well right from the beginning as they lost their first wicket off the very first ball.

No batsman could get into the double figures except three – Babar Hayat (20), Waqas Barkat (18) and Mark Chapman (13) – as Hong Kong were all out for a low score of 69 in 17 overs.

Left-arm spinners Shakti Gauchan and Basant Regmi captured three wickets each for nine and 14 respectively.

Earlier, Nepal made 149 runs for eight wickets after Hong Kong captain Jamie Atkinson won the toss and sent them into bat.

Gayanandra Malla (48) and captain Paras Khadka (41) were the main scorers for Nepal while for Hong Kong, Haseeb Amjad captured three wickets for 25 runs and left-arm spinner Nadeem Ahmed took two for 26.
