Ending Quetta sit-in prematurely not good: Altaf
Source: The Nation | 21-02-2013

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain has criticised the decision of Shiite elders to end Quetta protest and sit-in state without taking the bereaved families into confidences as the demands were not fulfilled.

He was addressing the MQM's Rabta Committee simultaneously in Karachi and London here on WednesdayAltaf Hussain stated that 'one-sided' move to end the sit-in was tantamount to hurting the Shia faith and added that some elements were doing politics over the bodies of Quetta blast victims. He noted the parliamentary committee sent to Quetta by the government to resolve the issues, was an affront to the bereaved families of Quetta carnage that left 90 people dead on Saturday.

When will the bloodshed of innocent youths, children, elders and women come to an end; as millions of rupees are spent on the law-enforcement agencies", he questioned the army and chiefs of intelligence agencies.Altaf Hussain urged all schools of thoughts to stand united instead of causing more rifts amongst themselves so as to deal with the situation.

Meanwhile, General Secretary Majlis Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen (MWM) Allama Amin Shaheedi expressed strong reaction to Altaf Hussain's criticism of 'some Shia elders' who played role in ending Hazara community sit-in and persuading them for burial of their loved ones who died in Saturday's deadly blast.

Talking to media persons on Wednesday, Allama Amin Shaheedi questioned Altaf Hussain that when the MQM became 'well wisher' of Shiite community more than its elders.

He urged the MQM leadership to first play its role in bringing an end to the targeted killing of Shiite people in Karachi.Allama Amin Shaheedi said that the relatives of Quetta tragedy victims had reposed confidence in the MWM and there was no question of criticism of any non stakeholder over the issue.
