AMRUD: At least five persons were killed when militants attacked three Nato containers in Shagai area of Tehsil Jamrud in the Khyber Agency on Monday.

Security forces were engaged in firefight for about half an hour with the militants who attacked the containers and set them on fire.

Sources close to Khasadar Forces said that five persons including the driver and the cleaner were killed. The forces and the militants traded fire for about half an hour and later the assailants retreating disappeared in the mountainous region.

Following the incident the traffic at Pak-Afghan border was suspended. Khasadar Force launching a search operation went on extensive patrolling of the area and searching the suspected vehicles.

Sources said that a week ago the drivers had refused to take the military vehicles from Afghanistan to Karachi for security reasons and had ran away leaving these vehicles at the border. Later the political administration had sent back these vehicles to Afghanistan.
