Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said how could those people, living abroad for the last six years, talk about eradication of corruption and bringing revolution.

Addressing a laptops distribution ceremony at Lahore College for Women University Thursday, the chief minister said the whole nation knew where these imported elements were when the country was confronting with floods, dengue virus and other natural calamities.

Shahbaz Sharif said people should recognise those who were raising fake slogans. He said the main agenda of imported elements was to create chaos in the country and to sabotage the democratic process.

The chief minister said those who enjoyed living in foreign countries, leaving the people in difficulties and problems, should realise that no person could dare stop holding of general elections in Pakistan. He said that every citizen was thinking as to why these imported elements had started suddenly feeling the pain of the country.

As a chief guest on the occasion, the chief minister distributed 1,904 laptops among the students. Some 25 special students also got laptops. Congratulating the students, he said that more than 6,500 laptops had been distributed among the LCWU students whereas more than 200,000 laptops were being distributed among students, across the province.

“Provision of resources to the youth, to acquire modern knowledge, is not expenditure, but a useful investment. If ten thousand daughters of the nation, who have acquired laptops in Punjab, become IT experts like Arfa Karim, Pakistan would achieve information technology revolution,” the CM held.

Talking about various steps taken for the betterment of education sector, the CM said the IT labs had been established, at more than four thousand high schools in the province, at a cost of Rs 5 billion, which were facilitating the students.

He said 50 thousand young graduates were being provided training in different departments, under the internship programmes along with a stipend of Rs 10,000 per month.

Shahbaz Sharif said general elections would be held after two months. He said they had served the masses as an article of faith and our performance was before the people, who were the best judge. He hoped, in future, the people would bring about such leadership which had a passion to serve the country.

The chief minister said he was proud of being called Khadim-e-Awam.He said the corrupt mafia had thrown the country into darkness and myriad problems through loot and plunder. He said people would reject those in general elections who were now raising deceptive slogans.

In her welcome address, the VC apprised the CM of educational and research activities of the university.PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz, Special Assistant Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Advisor Zakiya Shahnawaz, deans, professors and a large number of students were present.
