Pakistan Twenty20 skipper Mohammad Hafeez refuted allegations of his desire to secure captaincy in all formats of cricket.Last week, reports of infighting in the team surfaced, suggesting a rift between ODI captain Misbahul Haq and Hafeez. However, he dispelled the speculations.
“I request the media not to put its personal opinion or belief in the news,” he said. “I have brotherly relations with Misbah that will always remain so. I have no obsession to become captain as my only motive is to represent Pakistan. Captaincy cannot be snatched. Hatching conspiracies have never been part of my career. All the players are like a family and are supportive of each other.”
‘Ready to bat at any order’
Hafeez also denied that he had any altercation with Misbah over the batting order.“I am ready to play even at seventh position if my captain and coach want me there. My priority is the team; I am ready to perform in any role.”
Hafeez also ridiculed the impression that he was interfering in selection matters of the playing XI.“I am not even a part of tour selection committee in Tests and ODIs. The captain, head coach and manager comprise the body and I am nowhere near it.”
