PM Nawaz Sharif arrives in Karachi

KARACHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has arrived in Karachi for a two day visit that will focus on the law and order situation plaguing the metropolitan city.

During his visit, the prime minister is scheduled to meet representatives of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industries, traders’ unions and media to make them aware about the government’s roadmap.

The prime minister will also chair a special meeting of the federal cabinet which will be held at the Governor House in Karachi on Wednesday (tomorrow). The meeting will review peace and security situation of the city.

Sources add, that the interior ministry and other state institutions will present their reports regarding the law and order situation of Karachi in the special meeting of the cabinet. Sindh governor, chief minister, chief secretary, DG Rangers, DG ISI and DG IB will also attend the upcoming cabinet meeting.

Mutttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Farooq Sattar has also been invited to attend the session on directives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. It is expected that the federal cabinet will hear the stance of the MQM seeking the deployment of army in Karachi.

PM Attends PNS Aslat Frigate Inauguration

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif attended the inauguration ceremony of the PNS Aslat F-22 Frigate. The prime minister was given a guard of honour upon his arrival at the inauguration ceremony. During his address Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the government was combating elements who wanted to destabilize the country.
