Like other parts of the country, candidates are flocking to the election commission to file their nomination papers in Balochistan. Former Balochistan chief minister Nawab Aslam Raisani filed nomination papers for PB-38 Mastung as an independent candidate.
Raisani had contested 2008 elections as a PPP candidate but party had suspended his membership five months ago. Jamhoori Watan Party President Talal Akbar Bugti filed nomination papers for NA-265 Sibi-cum-Kohlu-cum-Dera Bugti-cum-Hernai. Former Balochistan Assembly Speaker Muhammad Aslam Bhootani filed his nomination papers for NA-270 Lasbela-Awaran.
Talking to the media, Aslam Bhootani said that he had made an alliance with PPP and he was submitting his documents as the covering candidate at NA-270 while the PPP would not field any candidate to contest the election from his constituency. Bhootani said that during his tenure, he served the people of Lasbela and had completed developmental projects.
Separately, a meeting of the Awami National Party (ANP) provincial parliamentary board was held under the chairmanship of Orangzaib Kasi. The board issued a list of candidates nominated for national and provincial assembly seats.The nominated candidates are: Naik Muhammad Kakar from NA-260, Haji Nazimuddin Kakar from NA-261, substitute candidate would be Rasheed Nasir, Haji Abdul Jabbar Kakar from NA-262, substitute candidate would be Malik Usman Kakozai,
Bismillah Luni from NA 263, substitute candidate would Manzoor Kakar, Ameen Jogzai from NA-264 and Malik Mohammad Dad Tareen will contest the election from NA-265. Naik Muhammad Kakar from PB-I, Malik Mohammad Ibrahim Kasi from PB-2, Norrudin Tareen from PB-3, Arbab Shoukat Kasi from PB-4, Syed Zubair Shah from PB-5 and Haji Abdul Satar Kakar will contest from PB-6.
