KARACHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is holding a meeting with representatives of different political parties in Sindh at the Governor House. The aim of the meeting is discuss the law and order situation in Karachi. The meeting is also being attended by Sindh governor, chief minister, interior, finance and information ministers. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) are not attending the meeting because they did not receive a formal invitation. At the start of the meeting Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif said everyone’s mandate was respected. The prime minister stressed the importance of Karachi and the need to reach a consensus to resolve the law and order situation in the city. “Different recommendations over how to control the law and order situation in Karachi are under review.” According to the prime minister force would have to used to control the law and order situation. The prime minister added that there would be no progress in the country without investment which would only come if the security situation improved. MQM leader, Haider Abbas Rizvi said strict action should be taken against criminals regardless of their affiliations. Rizvi added that a multifaceted strategy was required to tackle the law and order situation in the city. “The killing of innocent people in Karachi is the murder of our mandate.” Meanwhile Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader, Muhammad Hussain Mehanti said that his party for the last five years had been excluded from talks regarding the law and order situation in Karachi. “Neither the police or Rangers are stopping the people from dying in the city.” Prior to this meeting, the prime minister met with Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and Governor Ishrat ul Ebad.
